(September 29-October 20)
Use of Articles (September 29th and October 2nd)
Should you use the, a/an, or no article at all in your sentence? Learn the English writing rules for using definite and indefinite articles..

TOEFL Prep I (October 6th and October 9th)
This workshop will give you a general overview of the TOEFL test, registration materials and TOEFL prep materials available in the Language Lab.

Gerunds and Infinitives (October 7th and October 8th)
Do you like to study grammar? Do you like studying grammar? Are both of these sentences correct? Which is the gerund? Which is the infinitive? Learn when to use one or the other.

Punctuation (October 14th and 15th)
Not sure where to place your periods? Having trouble understanding semi-colons? What about those pesky commas? We’ll have you punctuating properly in no time and eliminating your run-on sentences and fragments.

Powerpoint (October 16th)
This workshop will provide you with the basic essentials to create a versatile and dynamic Powerpoint presentation. You will learn how to import pictures, incorporate audio files, create text boxes, and manage the animation capabilities, as well as other developmental features.

Parts of Speech (October 20th and 23rd)
You will learn about all 9 parts of speech and be able to recognize them in the future. You will identify the various parts of speech in writing.

Simple, Compound, Complex, and Compound-Complex Sentences (October 21st and 22nd)
Do you know what constitutes a compound sentence? How about a complex sentence? The workshop will teach you how to write them and how they can enhance your writing.

TOEFL Prep II (October 27th and 30th)
This workshop will cover the four sections of the TOEFL test, explaining various strategies for the tasks and questions in each section, and will answer any questions you may have about the test.

Microsoft Word 2007 MLA Reference and Citation Feature Overview (October 28th and 29th)
Learn how to use Microsoft Word 2007 including the new citation and reference features. This workshop will benefit ENG 112 students with their research paper requirements.

Word Form (November 3rd and 6th)
In this workshop, you will be introduced to several of the suffixes that form adjectives, adverbs, and nouns. You will work on exercises that help you practice changing base forms into different words, and then place them into sentences.

Word Order (November 10th and 13th)
This workshop includes several exercises and tutorials that will help you develop a better understanding of English word order.

Subject-Verb Agreement (November 17th and 20th)
Do you have trouble getting your subjects to agree with your verbs? Why? The key is understanding what types of subjects there are and what types of verb forms correspond to each subject. Come to this workshop to learn more about how to eliminate those pesky s/v errors on your papers.
