Reasons to Study at BHCC

  1. We are committed to global learning.
One of the most diverse colleges in Massachusetts, Bunker Hill Community College values the worldwide perspective our international students bring to our community and has incorporated this perspective into our courses, program, and activities. More than 600 international students from 90 countries are enrolled here, and we also provide scholarships for students to travel and study abroad. The college is a member of many international organizations, including the Massachusetts Council on International Education, the American Council on Intercultural Education, and NAFSA: Association of International Educators. We encourage all our students to learn more about global issues beyond the international student population; BHCC as a whole is one of the most diverse colleges in Massachusetts.

  2. We have demonstrated our commitment to global learning by establishing our International Center.
The International Center is the focal point for all international programs and services, offering a variety of international and intercultural programs to all BHCC students, faculty, and staff as well as a range of practical, academic, and personal services to our international student population. The Center was awarded the International Intercultural Achievement Award by the American Council for International Intercultural Education in recognition of the quality of our international programs.

  3. We are affordable.
We offer a quality, affordable education for international students. The cost of tuition is approximately $3,900 per 12-credit semester.

  4. Our classes are small.
Because the average class size at BHCC is only 19 students, faculty are able to devote more individual attention to those students they teach and advise.
  5. We offer flexibility in our course selections.
Students can attend classes at our Charlestown or Chelsea campuses. We also offer day, evening, and weekend classes, web-based instruction, and self-paced learning programs. Students may combine some of these options to develop a schedule that meets their needs. We also offer international students transfer credit from other colleges, life-experience credit, and college-level proficiency exams in many subjects.
  6. We provide many opportunities for academic excellence.
Bunker Hill Community College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. We offer 17 Associate in Arts and 34 Associate in Science degree programs, 32 certificate programs, and articulation and dual enrollment opportunities with other area colleges and universities. We offer a dynamic Honors program and an award-winning Honor Society. Most of our international students appear on the Dean's List every semester, and, after graduating from Bunker Hill, have enrolled in some of the highest-ranked four-year institutions in the country.

We support our students academically during their time at Bunker Hill and professionally after their graduation. Our Tutoring and Academic Support Center (TASC) offers free tutoring in most academic subjects, and students may also work for one year of practical training upon completion of their academic studies.

  7. Bunker Hill Community College is accessible in many ways.
Boston is home to more international students than any other city in the world, and we make it easy for you to apply to and attend college here. Our admissions process is easy and our staff is friendly and helpful; our main campus, minutes away from Logan Airport, is safe, well-lit, readily accessible by public transportation, and offers reasonably priced student parking; and we offer many flexible learning options, both online and at our two campuses and five satellite locations.

  8. Bunker Hill Community College is diverse.
The college is diverse linguistically, ethnically, racially, economically, and with regard to age and education level. More than 600 international students from 90 countries are enrolled here, and the college has many student cultural organizations.

  9. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to student success and are educators of distinction.
Bunker Hill Community College faculty and staff are competent, caring, and culturally aware professionals who welcome the vitality that international students bring with them into the classroom. Most of our faculty and staff hold masters' degrees; many hold doctoral degrees. They regularly take advantage of professional training opportunities in their fields.
  10. International students report a high level of satisfaction with the Bunker Hill Community College experience.
