Academic advisors are available for all BHCC students. Depending on academic status, a student may have an assigned advisor, access online advising, or drop in to talk to an advisor in the Advising/Counseling Center located on the Charlestown Campus in Room B109. Advising is also avaiable on the Chelsea Campus. The advisor's role includes, but is not limited to, helping students plan their academic course load, monitor their academic progress, and to serve as a resource for career planning and academic and student support services.
Each semester matriculated students receive a letter notifying them of their assignement to a faculty advisor or to the Advising Center. Students assigned to a faculty advisor must see their assigned faculty advisor for all advising related purposes. Students not yet matriculated into a degree or certificate program may utilize the Advising Centers on either the Charlestown or Chelsea Campus campus for advising related activities
Students assigned to a faculty advisor must see their assigned faculty advisor for all advising related purposes. All full-time faculty and professional staff advisors have offices with posted office hours, voicemail and email. Students should arrange to meet with their assigned advisor prior to registration periods.
For students assigned to the Advising/Counseling Center, advising is offered on a walk-in basis and students are free to meet with any of the advising staff. Advising is also available on a walk-in basis at the Chelsea campus.
Non-degree seeking students may utilize online advising services and are welcome to speak with an advisor at the Self-Service Counter located in the main lobby of the B-Building.
For students matriculating in Allied Health, Nursing, Medical Imaging, and Criminal Justice, group orientations and advising sessions may also be available throughout the academic year.
All registered students have an Online Services account known as WebAdvisor. This account allows students to print a current course schedule or unofficial transcript, view placement test results and grades, search for the availability of courses, access financial aid and student payment information, pay for courses, create a payment plan and waive health insurance. Students who have already earned 12 or more credits at BHCC and maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA can register for courses online through WebAdvisor. In addition, the Program Evaluation feature of WebAdvisor allows students to monitor their progress toward program requirement completion and make informed decisions about course selection.
